Actor Kim Sung-min arrested on drug charge

Seoul (The Korea Herald/ANN) - Korean actor Kim Sung-min's alleged use of illegal drugs has sent shock throughout the domestic entertainment industry.
Kim, an actor and cast member of popular reality show "Happy Sunday - The Qualities of a Man," was arrested Friday (December 3) at his apartment in Yeoksam-dong, Seoul, for using illegal drugs. Korea strictly bans the import and use of illegal drugs such as methamphetamine, and Kim reportedly told the authorities that he had smuggled meth from overseas and regularly used it in violation of the law.
The Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office stormed into Kim's apartment Friday, believing he may have engaged in illegal drug use.
The news instantly generated a flood of comments in cyberspace, particularly because he has long maintained a positive public image. Kim, who made his debut as a stage actor in 1995, gained fame in recent months for his role in "Happy Sunday."
The production team of the show said Kim would drop out of the program immediately. A prerecorded episode aired Sunday was hurriedly edited, cutting out Kim's part entirely.
Kim posted an apologetic message on Twitter saying, "I feel deeply sorry for those who have been hurt and disappointed in me, including my family members and loved ones."
Kim had played a leading role in several television drama series such as "What's for Dinner?" and "Glory of the Family."

SNSD covered in Billboard News May be Entering Europe

The ladies of SNSD have had an exceptionally busy year with their Japanese debut riding alongside their Korean promotions. Yet it’s all paid off – their popularity has exploded to new heights both at home and abroad, and it’s certainly looking like it won’t reach its apex any time soon.
On December 3rd, an article covering SNSD’s success in Japan was posted on Billboard’s news site. While fans are sure to feel proud of their girls, they’ll also feel ecstatic in reading that there’s plans of releasing a full Japanese album, “due in the spring”. Arguably though, the best gem in the article lies in the rumor about SNSD’s possible expansion into Europe for 2011.
No word yet from SM Entertainment about the rumor, so stay tuned to allkpop for updates! In the meantime, be sure to check out the Billboard article here.

apanese music market may be increasingly resistant to international repertoire, but that isn't stopping Girls' Generation. The Korean girl group is hoping to turn huge YouTube buzz into sales in Japan and other international markets.

Known as So Nyuh Shi Dae, or SNSD, at home and as Shoujo Jidai in Japan, the nine-member pop group has become a most-viewed regular on YouTube. Its kitsch videos for songs including "Gee" and "Hoot" have racked up 30.1 million and 5.9 million views, respectively.
